Michael Jenkins

A Business Development Director with 25 years practical experience. Over the years, Michael has used the different generations of Information and Communication Technologies to help organisations identify and develop new opportunities. Frequently, Michael works alongside partners at Board and Project Management levels, assisting in the design, funding, bulding and implementing of a new service.

Michael provides ICT related strategic consultancy to service delivery organisations specialising in international development, industrial restructuring, public policy, local business development, community creation, partner capacity building and individual firm competitiveness.

Michael has particular expertise in designing & developing multi-stakeholder partnerships that draw together organisations from the private, public and voluntary sectors to address a common interest.

Michael holds two masters degrees: an MSc (Technology and Innovation Management) in Information & Communication Technologies from Science Policy Research Unit, Sussex University, UK (1991) and an MA (Area Studies) in the Anthropology of the Middle East from School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, UK (1970)

Sally Gilchrist

metaLAB's Company Secretary. A Financial Manager with over 20 years experience of setting up, and running, computerised multi-currency accounting systems. Sally is well versed in a whole range of procedures in both large and small organisations including: auditing, budgeting and management accounting.

Over the years Sally has worked with metaLAB's partners to develop joint funding proposals, complex (national scale) public, voluntary and private sector financial models, 'what if' scenarios for Joint Ventures etc.

 Engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and an MA in Science, Technology and Public Policy from George Washington University in Washington DC.

Chris Lear

Chris takes a technical lead in all metaLAB's development, and strives to ensure that the overall strategy is maintained in diverse projects. He maintains metaLAB's development server, and manages all related software. He also leads metaLAB's practical research into new technologies by prototyping and evaluating solutions, as well as solving the problems that arise in applying these solutions to pro-poor agile development. He supports a team of web application developers.

He has broad experience in web development, from 8 years working on web applications for an institutional banking consultancy, as well as 5 years of desktop databse-driven applications. He is well versed in client-side javascript, AJAX, HTML and CSS. He is equally at home working on the server side, using PHP, MySQL, and Apache. He also has experience of server-side Java development, especially managing Tomcat web applications.These skills are supplemented by an inquiring approach that always seeks full understanding, rather than just superficial results.

Chris has a degree in Philosophy of Science from Cambridge University .

Mike is a Digital Media Director who brings over 10 years experience defining and delivering new technology and superior business communications solutions.  

Mike’s roles include:

Mike has in-depth knowledge of the media, telecommunications and non-profit sectors. His clients include Virgin Media, BBC Audio & Music Interactive & Mobile, AOL, Orange, O2, Channel 4, Turner Broadcasting, ITV Broadband, Sony PlayStation, World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace International, RSPCA and NSPCC.
